Is Monster Energy working with satan?

Sometime around 2019, a very intriguing video circled around TikTok and a lot of other social media platforms. The video made people question the products they use daily. Makes you wonder, How can one video cause so much drama? This video, which was now resurfacing on the media, has actually been around for years now. The video shows a lady giving a presentation to the cameraman, about why she believes monster energy drinks are working with satan. She makes a couple of good claims and if anyone watches the video without knowing the context you might be swayed by her points too. In the video, while the lady is presenting her information, it is easy to believe her claims are true but once you do a little research into the topic you’ll actually find that these outrageous claims are completely false.

“Thus we have the Hebrew version of 666” (0:14)

The video itself is fairly short but in that short time span, we actually get a lot of information. The first, huge, claim that she makes is that the M on the can is actually 666. During this period of time, she pulls out a big poster board of supposed translations from the Hebrew language. From what I gathered, a lot of people throughout TikTok have made similar claims, of course, none of them are reliable so we mainly have this lady who made this claim first. The lady in the video’s name is Christine Weick. The video was made in 2014 and was posted on YouTube by DailyMail. Religion Dispatches says Weick’s claims that it’s actually the letter Vav in Hebrew, which translates to 666. They say That there is a passage in the Bible that disproves Christine Weick’s theory and that is in the book of revelations. This passage is from Revelations 13:18 “let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. Its number is six hundred and sixty-six.”. Now I know it’s hard to understand but basically, 666 comes from a person’s name and that becomes a form of numerical translations in the Hebrew language. Then you add up all of the Hebrew numbers and it should add up to 666. In this case, if we go off of what Christine’s claim was, it would actually be 6 plus 6 plus 6 which would not be 666, it would actually be 18. They said it’s similar to how Roman numerals work, “if you have ones together it’s not 111 it’s 3” stated by Religion Dispatches in their article called “END-TIMES WATCHER SEES SATAN IN AN ENERGY DRINK”. Another source states “‘Tav resh samech vav” (six hundred sixty-six). However, it turns out 666 in Hebrew isn’t written as “Vav vav vav” (Six, six, six)” said Loudwire in their article called “Did Monster Energy Drink Really Hide Satanic Symbols on Their Cans?”. In these two sources alone, they already disproved one of Christine Weicks main claims.

Christine Weicks an expert on the Book of revelations and Christianity? (1:59-2:08)

In the video, there is only one self-proclaimed expert and that is Christine Weick. She claimed in an interview that she is an expert on the book of revelations and an expert on Christianity. In a Washington Post article, they stated that ”Snopes, the fact-checking site, calls Weick’s theory “false” but offers scant evidence to debunk it. Snopes basically says that Weick doesn’t understand the Hebrew or Greek languages”. For us to get a good understanding of whether Christine is an expert as she claims, we have to look at her past to see if she is qualified to be an expert. The Washington Post has done a number of interviews where she shares about her life. Christine grew up in a heavily enforced Christian household. She said in the interviews that being under that strict of a household made her want to rebel against the religion. The same one she is making her claim on. She said she did this by doing “witchcraft” and it was the biggest form of rebellion against God. She went on saying, in her exact words, “to worship the devil outright”. This is the same woman claiming that Monster Energy is unholy. Later in her life, she got married and constantly cheated on her husband. Regularly! She said she ended up leaving her husband, which ruined her daughter. Christine stated in the interview that she only cared until she saw blasphemous words against Jesus and it “bothered her”. Christine has contradicted herself in every action she has taken so far. She only claims about being an expert because she grew up being forced to know it. No classes, no studies, no schooling on religion, and in this interview she basically calls herself out for not being an expert.

“What do you see in the O, there’s a cross” (0:29)

Christine Weick’s second claim was that the O in Monster Energy has a cross in it and when you take a sip from the can it turns into an upside-down cross. When she made this claim she picked up a Monster Energy Drink can and pointed out the O. She then did the motion with the can show the camera what she meant. Loudwire posted in their article that ”Here’s the fact that makes the Satanic thing seem unlikely: It was actually conceived by design firm McLean. It’s possible, but McLean isn’t just some shoddy warehouse filled with metalheads. They’ve developed the branding for Pabst Blue Ribbon Light, Kingsford charcoal, Sunsweet prunes, Havoline motor oil, Fresh Step kitty litter, and much more”. This source basically said that McLean is a huge company that creates logos for other huge businesses. So the odds of them doing something satanic is highly unlikely. Taking a look at a different source, 1000Logos states “due to which a very unusual visual effect is produced. McLean Design puts an emphasis on consumer engagement as the way to making a lasting connection.” This tells us how McLean did this to draw people’s attention and it worked! With all of the millions of views, Christine Weick’s video has gotten, it’s almost like a free advertisement. On top of that, they have not changed their logo since 2001 due to a large number of sales.

“BFC at the bottom of the can” (0:40 -0:59)

Christine Weick’s 3rd and final claim is about how Monster Energy Drink contains crude language and that makes it unholy. It’s a little bit of a stretch but she claims that BFC on the can stands for Big F** Can. Christine Weick also claims that it says the word milf on the box. I’m not going to deny this claim because it does say these things on the can and box but on the other hand, this does not necessarily mean it is satanic. In our present-day culture, this type of slang is very common. On top of that, 100Logos found a statement from the firm that created Monster Energy’s logo: “the design firm responsible for creating the logo claimed the emblem did not include any Satanic implications”. If we take a step back, for a second, I found a source to provide a different perspective about Weick. Religion Dispatches makes a bold claim in their article called “END-TIMES WATCHER SEES SATAN IN AN ENERGY DRINK”; “At first glance, you might consider her a right-winger, but a lot of what she says—that evil corporations are manipulating us with products and advertising—could have come out the mouth of anti-corporate leftist. Though she would certainly not phrase it this way, Satan is Christine Weick’s god. He is the prime mover of her universe”. If we look at her life so far, this claim makes sense. She even told an interviewer that she “worshiped the devil outright”.

With all the false news going around and people claiming things are going on behind the scenes, it makes it so easy to believe it. This post was meant to show you how easy it is for people to lie or mislead you into believing something is true. With a company as big as Monster this statement shocked a lot of people. I’m glad I could let people who love the drink know that it is not satanic and can enjoy their drink in peace.
