As many may know the 2016 Presidential Elections are coming up. And, with that are so many campaigns, ads, speeches, debates and much more. Most candidates announce that they will run for office and then plaster on smiling face, make speeches, kiss babies and above all try to please as many people as they can. Although, this year there is one candidate who is running for President that has sparked much controversy. Donald J. Trump. The Billionaire businessman claiming to be the American success story, the star who has aired in many reality shows, been married 4 times,  bankrupt at least 3 and lets not forget his catch phrase “you’re fired”! He is the opposite of the typical politician.

Trump has been toying with the idea of joining the presidential race for years, so earlier this year when he announced that he would run in the presidential campaign of 2016, many people were dumbfounded. With the motto “let’s make America Great Again”, Trump has been taking the polls by storm. He has a large group of followers because of his non politician attitude towards topics and the bluntness of his statements. This usually would be a great thing to have in a candidate… until you look at all the negative things he says and does. And, with that comes an even larger group of people who do not think Trump would be a good person to run our country.

1. Racism and Immigration

Trumps views on immigration are definitely harsh. In one of Trump’s recent public speeches he claimed that mostly all of Mexican immigrants in our country are bringing criminals, rapists and drug users. In this statement Trump suggests that all Mexican immigrants are bad people, this is ridiculous and not to mention stereo-typical. This shows that trump is not only one track minded, but racist. In a country nicknamed “the melting pot” you would think someone would be more understanding of different cultures and ethnicities. Especially someone who wants to lead it.

Trump believes this is a serious problem, so as a result Trumps way of avoiding illegal immigration through Mexico is to build a wall. So, Trump physically wants to build up walls instead of finding other ways to fix this problem. Also, according to Brian Shatz a journalist for Mother Jones  another way Trump would try to get rid of  illegal immigration is deportation, he is even talking about getting rid of the 14th amendment which states that any person born in the united states is an American citizen.

Trump thinks this will decrease illegal immigration, which it might, but ultimately thousands of people born and raised in America will be kicked out of the U.S. many of them Children and people who have only know America and have never even been outside of the U.S.

Thousands would be evicted from there homes and forced to go to a place were they couldn’t speak the language,  face homelessness and potentially crime. Therefore, Trumps solution to illegal immigration will cost our country thousands of dollars and evict many American citizens from there homes.

2. Racism, Sexism and More…

Earlier this year Trump made some shocking statements toward women. In addition to his uneducated remarks on Mexican immigrants, Trump has said some very inappropriate and sexist remarks to women.

This tweet was posted by one of Donald Trump’s supporters and re tweeted :

donald-trump-insults-11-celebs-with-downright-mean-tweets-hillary-clinton-2

This tweet refers to Hillary Clinton’s husband, Bill Clinton and the supposed affair he had during his presidential run in 1998. Trump re tweeted this tweet but then quickly deleted it realizing his mistake, but not before Lenny Jacobson took a screenshot of the re tweet.

This is yet another example why Trump would not be a good leader. The tweets proves that he is very sexist, insensitive and hateful. Trumps ego and cockiness “trumps” his sense of judgement.

The way that he re tweeted the tweet and then deleted the tweet, makes you think he would not be a good person to make big decisions for our country. Especially if his feelings were hurt or his manliness was being challenged.

Aside from the tweet about Hillary Clinton he has repeatedly said horrible sexist things about women who contradict him. Calling them things such as fat pig and disgusting, and constantly makes inappropriate comments about their physical appearance rather than treat them like he would if he was talking to an equal man. Equality is a big problem in this country and one might believe that Donald Trump will make equality worse.

3. Conclusion

Those are just two large reasons why Trump would not be a good leader. Here are a couple more reasons:

  • Although Donald Trump has had a lot of experience in business and is obviously very wealthy, many of his fellow businessman and associates say he has a record of lying and being unfaithful in his business agreements, which is not something you want in a leader.

  • Once in an interview Trump was told by a person in the audience that Muslims in general were a problem in this country, and the person suggested that President Obama is a Muslim also. Trump just shook his head yes and laughed at the question instead of  defending the people of Muslim religion in our country.

  • Trump has said in an interview his daughter is so hot, that if he wasn’t her father he would date her (not necessarily political but gross).

  • Trump constantly talks himself up and put’s other people down because of his big ego. He almost never explains how he will fix any of the problems he says he will. He can talk the talk, but rarely walks the walk.

Will you vote for Donald Trump?

Just touching on your comment regarding a wall around the country; if walls and fences don’t work or are not necessary, then why is there not one, but two fences around the White House? Also, if we do not enforce illegal immigration laws, what laws do we enforce? At what point do we deport the illegals here? When they commit a crime? Make someone mad? Get a DWI? It costs America billions of dollars per year to care for these immigrants, whether it be benefits, hospital care, or supporting their children throughout their school years. At what point do we enforce immigration laws?

Lauren, you offer a lot of valid points about our law system for illegal immigrants. Yes, there could be better ways to deal with illegal immigration in our country that is why it is called illegal immigration. However, personally I do not believe building a wall around our country and borders would be proactive. And, I do not believe that Donald Trump is the right person to be making these decisions. Thank you for your input it is another insightful way of looking at it!

The main reason people like Donald Trump (as ridiculous as it is) is because he says things that many racist and bigoted people think and believe. He says Mexican people are stealing our jobs, and some people think, “oh, he doesn’t ‘beat around the bush’ and he says it like it is!” When in reality that is not at all the case. Mexican people work harder and for less money than many Americans, so people say we should keep immigrants out. American is a country made almost entirely of immigrants or immigrants’ families. Keeping them out neglects what America is really about, the land of opportunity. Donald Trump even had a Twitter post about how his “Grandparents did not come all the way from Germany to let immigrants take over this country.” The contradiction in is own statement is blatantly obvious and ridiculous.
