Beth Lee-Crowther, a pet psychic, claimed to have done telepathic communication on Joe Biden’s dog through a photo. She said that Biden would be a great President with dogs by his side. Apparently the dogs also believe that former President Trump, will not go away quietly. Beth states, “The fight is in no means over [ ] They said what has gone on up to now will continue and ramp up, and be worse than it is already unfortunately. But they said that Joe would do his best to defuse the situation, and hold his head up high.” The dogs also told her that they were excited to stay at the white house, and that Biden has a big personality, who feels very empathetic towards people and animals. Beth claims that her gifts are genuine even though she does them for entertainment. According to her, “Pets are psychic, they not only know about themselves, but also their owners. They know about your past, what is going on in your present, and amazingly they can see and make predictions for the future. The Today show hired three pet psychics to analyze one dog, all three of the pet physics made predictions. Howerever, Pet Psychics are not real due to the fact that animals can’t physically communicate with humans. 

Telepathy

In the video, (4.11 – 4.15) the lady states that she is doing “mind to mind” telepathic communication. Livescience posted evidence from Allister Jennings on March 30th 2018 that mind to mind communication is real. Allister Jennings has a PhD in Neuroscience from the University College London, and has made some award winning science films. He found that the Brain can send messages through nerves by using electrical signals/impulses. The message is then read by implanted electrodes, the device does this by feeling changes in the brain’s electrical current as the cell functions. Another way to read brain activity is through ElectroEncephalography. The EEG can place larger electrodes onto someone’s head and record it in groups. The issue with an EEG is that the electrical activity has to pass through skin and bones, so the reading is less accurate. That being said, there would be no way for the dog or the girl to communicate with each other because they did not have implanted electrodes, and were not hooked up to an EEG.  

Dogs are like babies

The “Pet Psychic,” said that the dog wants a boyfriend (2:16 – 2:19), There are a few issues, how can the dog tell them all these things when dogs don’t understand the full english language? An article was posted by LiveScience, written by Rachael Rettner, who has a masters degree in Journalism from New York University, a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, and a Masters degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego, explaining how dogs understand words. In the article, Rettner talks about how dogs brains can’t distinguish words that differ by a single speech sound, an example being “Sit” and “Set,” or “Dog” and “Dig.” Because of this, dogs are very similar to human babies, but where babies’ vocabulary expands, dogs always stay the same. 

How Dogs Communicate

One of the Pet Psychics claims that the dog sounds like Amy Poller from Saturday Night Live (3:19 – 3:22) The main problem is that dogs can’t vocalize the way humans do, it’s physically impossible. Meilan Solly posted an article from the Smithsonian Magazine on why. This is because most animals have a limited range of vocalization, and other than humans, they possess a vocal tract and functional larynx. According to Jacob Dunn, a zoologist from Anglia Ruskin University, “The primate vocal tract is ‘speech ready,’ but… most species don’t have the neural control to make complex sounds that comprise human speech.” Him and his co worker, Jereon Smaers, ranked numerous animals on how well they could produce sounds. They found that Apes have a larger cerebral cortex, that part of the brain is responsible for receiving inputs from different areas, connecting sensory and motor areas, and incorporating new sensory information. They also have more control over their tongue muscles due to larger brainstem nuclei. These findings indicate that larger animals have more vocal control, given that fact; the dog in the video was relatively small.  Another issue with this pet psychic was when the dog was sleeping on the floor. According to voxy, dogs communicate through the use of different stimuli, like hunger, fear, etc. so they rely on body language.  If a dog is relaxed, they will tend to have a loose jaw, their ears will be forward, their eyes will look relaxed, and they will have a wiggly body. When they are anxious, they will usually hide, move their ears behind their head, pick at their paws, or yawn when not tired. 

Dog Vocab

The Pet Psychics had quite a few things to say, the dog told them that she felt the owner was lonely (1:32 – 1:36). However, the communication between the human and the dog wouldn’t be possible. Dogs can understand certain words according to tone, and how the word is said, but in the video, the woman isn’t speaking out loud. An experiment was conducted with 13 dogs, they were connected to a machine that could read brain activity. The dogs had to lie down for about seven minutes, and listen to their trainer’s voice. The researchers found that the dogs process words with the left side of their brain, while the right side processes tone and pitch. Attila Antics, the lead researcher said, “Dogs’ brains care about both what we say and how we say it.”  Attila Antics is from the Department of Ethology at Eotvos Lorand University in Hungary, and he has found other research on dogs, “Dogs might not attend to all details of speech sound when they listen to words,” and “Further research could reveal whether this could be a reason that incapacitates dogs from acquiring a sizable vocabulary.” 

Reincarnation

 One of the pet psychics made an inference that wasn’t even related to her realm of abilities, she said that the dog had a past life. Reincarnation, also known as rebirth, is a belief that after people die, they are reborn into a different physical form. In most beliefs involving reincarnation, the body can perish but the soul will remain intact. Studies have been conducted on whether or not reincarnation exists. Dr. James Paul Pandarakalam, wrote about past life regression and how in order for someone to journey to their past life, they have to be under hypnosis. Obviously the dog was not under hypnosis, and the only evidence that past lives exist, is from children who have birthmarks corresponding to the fatal wounds of their past lives. Under the hypnotherapy, there can be some flaws. When someone is hypnotised, they submit their thoughts to the hypnotist, so if the hypnotist tells them to remember something that they don’t, the person may make up information. The hypnosis can then make up stories about the person’s past life and make it extravagant. Ian Stevenson, who wrote Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect, said that hypnotic regression does not evoke any real memories, that they are just fantasies. 

In Conclusion…

Do not trust Pet Psychics with your hard earned money. There is no proof that it is real and there is no way for humans to communicate with dogs intellectually. Instead of wasting your money, spend it on food, buy some toilet paper, donate it, give it to someone in need, just don’t give it on someone who is going to make up lies about your pet that are completely irrelevant to your life.
