Picture yourself going to your sweet, innocent grandmother’s house. You walk through the door and a wafting smell of her homemade cookies hits your face. They are the BEST little morsels of joy you have ever consumed in your life. Salivating, you are sat down at the dining room table as your grandma places a plate of cookies below your nose. She proceeds to ask you, ” Would you care for some cow pus with your cookies?”
What? Um, cow pus? Come again?
Yes, cow secretions. You can reread this all you want but it will never change. I am here to tell you that the milk you have consumed with your grandma’s cookies in the past has been occupied with a cow’s pus. Yum.
According to nutritionfacts.org ‘s article, there is up to 1,120,000 pus cells in a single spoonful of milk. To some people eating fruits, vegetables and tofu is disgusting, but drinking liquid meat isn’t?
Raping female cows to impregnate them only to separate the mother cow from it’s newborn baby is not a devastation to either one of the animals? How does this process even begin?
Once the mother cow gives birth, the mother is separated from her baby calf. If the baby is a male he is no use to the processors so the calf is sent to be tortured and chopped up into veal. If the baby is a female, she is bound to end up just like her mother. Raped, tortured, and infected.
The mother cow is hooked up to a machine 3 times a day for as little as 10 months straight. After a short period of time, the cow’s body is no longer able to produce the amount of milk necessary, so white blood cells or somatic cells travel down into the udder to help heal the infected area. Somatic cells are produced inside and outside of the udder. This is where the pus pockets form…
POP!
The pus pocket has exploded into your milk along with blood from the cow.
YUM! ( FYI- This is the exact same chunky liquid you spray onto the bathroom mirror when you pop a zit!)
You look at your grandma, push the plate of cookies away and say, ” No thank you, Grandma, I will pass.”

What is Veganism?
To be vegan means to never consume, wear, or distribute animal products.
There are two main types of vegans such as:
- Ethical Vegan
- Individual who does not consume animal products due to their strong compassion of animals.
- Plant Based
- Individual who does not consume animal products based upon health or nutritional reasons.
Fun Fact: some plant based vegans do wear or use animal products.
There are also many types of vegan diets/lifestyles including:
- High Carb, Low Fat (HCLF)
- Diet in which consists of high carbohydrates and low amounts of plant based fats.
- 80/10/10 ( eighty- ten- ten)
- Diet in which 80% of their calories come from carbohydrates, 10% from protein and 10% fats, all coming from plant based foods.
- Raw Until 4
- Diet which consists of all raw unprocessed food that are never cooked above 118 degrees F.
Fun Fact: Oreos are accidentally vegan!
What do Vegans and Plant Based Diets Consist of?
Eating a plant based diet does not mean eating a combination of dirt, grass, salads and huge gulps of air to satisfy our hunger! It means consuming a plethora of beautiful fruits and vegetables that provide all of the essential energy we need to survive! It is all so simple! What makes this even better is the fact that no animals are suffering to feed us.
Did you know you can also eat all you want? There is absolutely no calorie restriction whatsoever. Eat as much food as your stomach needs until you are completely satisfied.
Are most Vegans Deficient in Most Vitamins and Minerals?
If someone is first transitioning into becoming a vegan, they will not think to eat enough calories. Please, have enough caloric intake when you are starting a vegan or plant based lifestyle. Caloric intake is just a fancy way of saying not consuming enough calories in a given day. If you do not eat enough calories in a day, your body will go into ‘starvation mode’. After time the body’s metabolic rate will slow down in order to conserve energy. This causes significant weight gain which is what people try to avoid.
If not enough food is consumed in one day this can lead to dizziness, drowsiness and the individual will most likely not stick to the vegan lifestyle.
To avoid this carb up on plant based foods and eat simple sugars like ripened fruit!
Most people will not eat enough on a vegan diet due to the fact they are not used to eating large amounts of food to be able to gain all of the vitamins and minerals for their body. Most people have been used to high caloric meals such as a classic dinner of meat and potatoes. When you are a vegan or plant based, you need to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables in order to match calories and get essential vitamins and minerals.
A bloody animal tissue, a.k.a steak, is much more calorie dense than a potatoe so eat plenty and listen to your body! Remember, meat bad, potatoes good (when not covered in cow pus).
One of my personal pet peeves is when someone asks:
“Where do vegans get their protein?”
Protein comes in a variety of ways. Many plant foods are high in protein such as nuts, seeds, grains, leafy greens, beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh and so much more.
Eating animal protein is a complete protein but your body only needs 5% of it’s calories to come from a source of protein. Eating a huge steak after a workout is unnecessary for your body! It only creates more work for it during the digestion process.
An article from mindbodygreen.com states, “Since these amino acids are already built up into a dizzying, complex array of complete protein strains, your body needs to break it all down into separate amino acids before utilizing them. This significantly slows down digestion, and forces your body to work harder on breaking down protein than it should have to. ”
As you can see, animal proteins are unnecessary for our body. Eating simplistic, natural foods is all our body needs to survive.
Consuming meat does not help your health it ruins it.
Did you know the leading cause of death in the United States is heart disease ?
Due to a high cholesterol provided by animal products such as red meat or eggs, can cause plaque build up in our heat’s arteries that prevent adequate blood flow to vital organs in our bodies. Just from cutting out animal products, our health is boosted. Trust me, your heart will thank you later.
According to The Mayo Clinic, “Heart-healthy eating isn’t all about cutting back (…). Healthy fats from plant-based sources, such as avocado, nuts, olives and olive oil, help your heart by lowering the bad type of cholesterol.” Adding more plant based foods to you diet is essential for a happy body!

Animal Cruelty: “The Animal Holocaust”
“Think about how you would feel if the moment you were born someone else had already planned the day of your execution.” This quote comes from Gary Yourofsky, an activist, whose passion about veganism is shown through a speech he made on March 24, 2014.
What do I mean?
Think of it this way: If you go to a slaughter house, remove the animals and replace the space with Jewish people, you would essentially see the worlds largest holocaust at hand. If you were to go back in time, replace the Jewish people with animals at Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen it is the same. Either way you end up with a holocaust. Slaughterhouses are buildings meant to murder and dismantle innocent beings. Buildings just like Auschwitz. Animals are beings, just like you and me. So what is the benefit to killing them? No it is not the natural order of life.

I can not convert you into veganism or plant-based eating, but maybe these people can.

I found this very interesting, and I try to avoid red meats, so I eat a lot of fish that I have caught personally, many of the fish that have high mercury levels are directly due to pollution, Tuna are a good example. But many fish such as Panfish from a clean lake, are not very bad for you, they tend to be very lean also.

Cool article very informative and well written! But I have agree with Colin, and even if I didn’t I love chocolate milk and ice cream way to much to give it up, sorry!
Madisen R
I agree not all slaughterhouses torture animals most organic farms and factories do not torture them to the extremes, however I do not believe killing another being for our consumption is right. You are free to eat what you wish to eat. I am simply trying to open up peoples minds to where their food is coming from and how it gets to our tables. As far as the jaws of carnivores, omnivores and herbivores, there is a significant difference between an omnivore and a herbivore’s jaw. Please use this url and it should open a table of the differences between carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. You might need to copy and paste it into the search bar.

If you look at the last three columns, there are more similarities between and herbivore and a human’s jaw. Eating meat is a choice humans made long ago like you said. However, we do not need meat or dairy to be apart of our diet in order to survive. I’m not going to tell you what you should and should not eat because that would be wrong on my part. You do you, Colin. I’m only creating an outlet to get the word of where our food is coming from and how it comes to be at our tables. All in all, even if one person does not consume animal products saves the life of one being, I’m happy.
Ellie H
I completely agree with this whole article! I am also doing my blog topic on veganism and why its an all around good idea. While not many people previously agreed with it, I think this article really brings peoples’ good thoughts on dairy to a screeching halt. I really liked how you tied veganism into the article because it makes people feel a little guilty when they hear these horrible things about dairy, and I think it was a really cool thing to offer an alternative option they can feel good about. I also liked how you made an argument but also supported it with clear facts. Really cool and very inspiring article!! 🙂
Madisen R
Thank you, Ellie! I really appreciate your feedback! I’m excited to read your article! :),
Ethan G
So it would be just as bad to kill millions of animals instead of Jewish people?
Madisen R
The analogy with slaughter houses and concentration camps is merely just a way to express how all beings who live on this earth are all equal and how the ways jewish people were held captive in small areas with horrible conditions would be how animals like cows, pigs, chickens, live today. Gary Yourofsky does a better way of explaining it in his interview that is linked in the blog, if you have not watched it I recommend that you do. Thank you, Ethan.
ColinA
First, the impregnation of cows is not “rape”, second, butchering is not torture, and you claimed consuming animal meat is “not natural” but the entire ecosystem is based off predators and prey.
Madisen R
I understand what you are saying however I disagree. If you watch the very first video on dairy, employees of slaughter houses use devices called RAPE RACKS to artificially inseminate the cow. It’s obviously an unnatural way to impregnate the cow not to mention how p ainful this is for the cow. To me this is a form of rape. I’m positive the cow does not exactly appreciate the rape rack.
You are correct when you say butchering isj not torture because the cow was already murdered! Cutting of male cow’s horns which is the most sensitive part of their body without an anestetic, stabbing them repeatley to get the cows to move into a machine to get held upside down by their legs to then get their throats slit by a dull knive ALL WITHOUT ANESTETIC is torture. Imagine a person up in the cows place. Are we not all beings on planet earth? Like people, don’t animals have rights? If you agree we are all beings on earth who are we ( humans) to kill another innocent being for our benefit?
Yes, predator and prey plays a huge part in our ecosystem but honestly it based off of carnivores. Carnivores live off of killing other beings and last time I checked humans are not carnivores. Have you ever noticed how a human’s jaw is different from say a cat or dog? Their jaws strictly move up and down. Our jaw has the ability to grind and twist as well as move up and down. Cats and dogs are carnivores, humans are originally herbivores believe it or not if you see it through the eyes of a vegan. Herbivores do not kill and catch the I prey to eat, but wild cats and dogs do. For instance you would never see a baby come into the house carrying a mouse or bird into the house. Also, if you would put a baby in it’s crib and place a rabbit and grapes into the crib with the baby, you would never come into the room to find the baby tearing apart the rabbit and playing with the grapes. If that ever happens let me know.
Thank you Colin, for commenting!
ColinA
I understand how the occasional brutal slaughterhouse creates a creul and evil look for all slaughterhouses, but one cannot assume that all are treating animals in such a manner. The same goes for the video of how sheep are treated a the Uggs company. One bad person sets the image for everyone. In response to human not being carnivores, that is correct, we are omnivorous, comsuming both plants and animals. That is why we have incisors at the front of our jaws. Humans have hunted other animals since the dawn of our existence and claiming that is unnatural frankly does not make sense.
