Have the Kardashians Left a Positive Impact on Society?

Your walking around town and you see a pretty girl. You immediately notice that she has gotten multiple surgeries to change the way she looks. The girl is taking a selfie, you guess that she has millions of followers on Instagram. You take a look closer, she is the girl from the reality TV show where many people are able to catch up with her. She makes millions of dollars, but you can’t understand why- all she does is talk on TV and look good. Are you a fan? Is this good for society? That’s what many people ask about the Kardashians and it has become the great debate all across the world. Many people think the Kardashians/Jenners are bobble heads with millions of dollars for no reason, while others think the opposite. Many people love them. I personally think that they have left a positive impact on the society. People base them off of headlines, but once you hear the great things they have done you may change your mind.

“Ewww the Kardashians are horrible people and they do nothing!” This is what I hear a lot on social media. I mean there is even comedy videos about them. (-Via “shook” on Youtube) The Kardashians/Jenners actually have many successes and its been going on for 10 years.

First Meet the Cast

Kris Jenner- Don’t let Kris fool you she is actually 63 years old. She is the mom of multi-millionaires, even being one herself. She was married to Rob Kardashian but remarried Caitlyn Jenner formerly Bruce Jenner after Rob’s death. 10 years ago she started up the reality TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” (KUWTK). Not only gaining the title of  ‘momager’ but also being the executive producer of the show. With the success of the show her net worth is currently 60 Million.

Kim Kardashian- Kim Kardashian, who I think is one of the most well known people is now 38. She is Married to the famous rapper Kanye West. She is also a mom of 3- North, Saint, and Chicago West. Kim has a net worth of a whopping 350 million. Originally brought up from her spotlight on KUWTK, she now has 3 apps, 1 makeup line (KKW Beauty), 1 fragrance line (KKW Fragrance), and does many other advertising jobs such as modeling.

Kourtney Kardashian- Kourtney is actually the oldest of the siblings, being 39. She was in a relationship with Scott Disick and they have 3 kids- Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick, but she is now dating someone else. She has mainly focused her life on KUWTK and her 3 kids, but has done acting and spokesperson jobs. It doesn’t sound like much compared to some of her siblings, but she still makes a net worth of 35 million.

Khloe Kardashian- Khloe is 34. She was recently in a relationship with Tristan Thompson and they had a baby together -they have since broken up. Her first baby is True Thompson. Like all her siblings, she is apart of the show KUWTK, but she is also a model, spokesperson, and has a clothing line (“Good American”). Her new mom life hasn’t put a stop on the money and fame, she has a net worth of 40 million.

Rob jr. Kardashian- In my opinion Rob Jr. isn’t shown in the show a lot. Maybe because he is off being a successful business man and appearing in other shows at the age of 31. Rob is also married to Blac Chyna and has one kid- Dream Kardashian. You can still catch up with him on the families show KUWTK + he is on social media too. Although he isn’t following in his sisters beauty business footsteps he still has a net worth of 10 million– which is probably more than you.

Kendall Jenner- Kendall is the first child between Kris and Caitlyn (Bruce). She is a successful model and business owner at the age of 22. To think she was only 12 when the reality TV show started- she has come along way. Unlike most of her sisters, Kendall hasn’t done big surgeries to change her body. She focuses on a fashion line with her younger sister called “Kendall + Kylie”. This clothing line is very successful and makes up part of her net worth of 18 million.

Kylie Jenner- Kylie, who I think is one of the most known females in the US. She is in a relationship with Travis Scott and they have one child- Stormi Webster. She makes the most money in her family- net worth 900 million. She became America’s youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 21. Since Kylie is now a mom of one she focuses on her baby, but she still balances work on the TV show, her multi- millionaire makeup line, modeling, and her clothing line with Kendall.

Caitlyn Jenner- Formerly Bruce Jenner, Caitlyn has now came out as transgender and led the media to embrace their true identity. Caitlyn has worked on the show and has been a spokesperson for the LGBT community. When she was Bruce she was an active athlete. Bruce has been married to 3 successful wives, the last one being Kris Jenner. She has had ups and down in her life, but don’t underestimate her wealth, her net worth is a successful 100 million.

The debate is- Have the Kardashians left a positive impact on society? I believe they have, here’s why.

The Kardashians have multiple successes, from winning awards- to creating multi-millionaire businesses. Here are just some of the successes and businesses-

Successful Businesses

1. 1. Kim has made 3 apps: “Kimoji”- is an application to your phone, it allows Kardashian emoticons. “Screen Shop”- Kim invented this genius app after everyone kept asking her what she was wearing. With this app you can take a screenshot of a picture and it tells you where to shop the fashion. “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood”- This is more of a game. It allows the user to make their own Hollywood star just like Kim. With the success of the apps, Kim has made over 50 million dollars in the last year.

With the TV show, the Kardashians have many major influences. Here are most of them-

1. 1. Transgender Acceptance: Since Bruce Jenner transitioned to Caitlyn Jenner the whole family has supported the LGBT community. They have all spoke out about acceptance on their dad and many others around the world. This article from Rebecca Zamon touches more on their acceptance saying the family showed the public how to support correctly. Rebecca also explains many more positive influences on Huffington Post.
   2. Body Image: Many people think that since they have gotten many surgeries that it means they are preaching others to do the same. They actually do multiple campaigns on race, gender and body shape. One thing that ties into this is Kim’s new fragrance models- it offers campaigns of all body types.

1. 1. Interracial Relationships: Multiple Kardashians have relationships with people of different races. Kim is married to Kanye. Khloe had a relationship with Tristan Thompson. Kylie has a relationship with Travis Scott. Rob has a relationship with Blac Chyna.

1. 1. Fertility: The Kardashian sisters have struggled with fertility and they have been very open about it. This article by Danielle Bosley shares 2017-2018 Kim has been very open about her struggles with the ability to get pregnant. Her newest baby Chicago was actually born through a serogot. On their TV show, Kris explains that she gets very nervous and sad when her daughters can’t get pregnant.

1. 1. Lady Boss: The Kardashian girls are big time lady bosses making millions of dollars. They are obviously very open on their reality TV show about their businesses. These women actually inspire other women to work hard and feel good.

1. 1. Sisters: The Kardashian/Jenner sisters unite! These sisters seem to fight a lot on their TV show, but don’t most sisters? The sisters all hustle very hard and they have multiple businesses together. This influences other families or sisters to work together.

1. 1. Business: If you read their successes above you would realize that this family works hard. Just like ‘Lady Boss’ this influences people to work hard for what they love. They really have built an empire, which their fandom follows.

1. 1. Social Media: If you are living in 2018, this is probably where you see the Kardashians the most. From news reports and drama to their own social blades. This family has used social media as a personal marketing brand. You can follow the Kardashians/Jenners on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and even Youtube. Social media is so huge for the family and it’s said that one tweet from them could be worth $10,000. They have such a big influence and everyone knows that they can change the way people think. Kylie had tweeted about the usage of Snapchat, and it actually affected snapchats stock growth rate.

1. 1. Makeup: The beauty community has definitely changed ever since the Kardashians have taught us their ways. For example; Contour. The Kardashians didn’t invent it but I definitely think they rebooted it. Contouring has now become very popular in shaping your face without surgery…which leads us to our next topic.

1. Plastic Surgery: If you have ever sat down and read some Kardashian comments from viewers, you would read their opinions on surgeries. Some people are with it and others are against it. The Kardashians have done multiple procedures from the rear to the face. They definitely have influenced society to jump on this bandwagon. 
   

   Support

   The Kardashians have helped lend support to those in need. So here are just a few examples that prove they totally don’t waste their money: The article by K Thor Jensen, Mandatory.com writes multiple ways the Kardashians have lent support.

   1. 1. They help feed the homeless- I personally remember watching an episode of KUWTK where Kim and Kris meet with someone in California to help the homeless. Kim Felt like she needed to help since it was getting out of hand. In the article they write about another family member, Kylie, who had actually spent time and money to hand out meals and gifts to the homeless.
   1. 1. Help save animals- In 2013, Khloe joined up with World Wildlife Fund to help raise awareness about endangered tigers. The article talks about how Khloe set up a donations for the awareness.
   1. 1. Volunteering at hospitals- Ever since a close friend got sick, Kim has been regularly volunteering at hospitals. She gives gifts and donates not only her time but money to the hospitals.
   1. 1. Fan love- No doubt that the Kardashians love their fans. They honestly wouldn’t even be here without them. Kris jenner actually said that she was worried there would be a season 2… now they have been doing the show for a decade. An example of some fan love is when Caitlyn Jenner meet up with a transgender fan after a tour of the LGBT center. They bonded, so much that they found out they were the same size shoe. Caitlyn took her shoes off and gave them to her fan.
   1. 1. Tips- Everyone should tip but you would be surprised how much people tip. Kim, along with the rest of her family like to tip pretty big. One time Kim tipped 150%.
   1. 1. Charity- The Kardashians have raised lots of money for different charities. One time Kim and Rob boxed to raises money for the Dream Foundation. Recently Kris has gotten in on the action, having a team work hard to raise money and create a safe space for children to play.
   1. 1. Haiti- Kim and Kris travelled to Haiti to help donate time and money after the earthquake. They worked with many charities and improved many lives with their help. 
   1. 1. Orphanages: Kim and Kris also visited orphanages in Haiti, they spent several days working with them. Obviously their charity work was shown on TV, so this gave exposure to the damage and led more people to help.
   1. March for our lives campaign- This Year Kim, Kanye, and their child North visited DC for the March for Our Lives campaign. This campaign took place at different places around the US after the Florida school shooting. Kim met up with some people from the campaign to learn more on the situation and how to help.

   Some Recent News (2018)

   Kim talks to president Trump: CNN politics shares an article about Kim Kardashian meeting with president Donald Trump. They discussed the topic Prison Reform. This may confuse fans, she had supported the democratic nominee at election in 2016, but is now meeting with fellow republican. Her husband Kanye West has actually supported Trump through the elections.

   Kim and Kanye’s trip to Uganda:

   This news has been laughed at a lot. The article from People.com talks about when Kim and Kanye went to Uganda to meet the president. When leaving the meeting the president asked what Kim’s job was- this was probably funny to those who don’t like Kim. Kim replied saying she has a TV show with her family, who was waiting for her arrival back.

   Not only did the couple go for meetings, they went for a little vacation as well. They went on a safari and did other private things while in Uganda.

   In Uganda they also visited refugee camps. This may lead to them helping out more in Uganda.

   These only a few positive things that the Kardashians have done in society, but even with these lists people will still hate on them.

   Here are some things that people say to make you hate the Kardashians

   One article by babe.net explains why people hate the Kardashians so much-

   • • Haters say the Kardashians neglect their kids, exploit their kids, or uses their kids for fame. This is not the case. Yes their kids are featured on the show, but I believe the kids aren’t mistreated and they live a good life.
   • • They hate because a ‘stupid’ post from the Kardashians ranges from $10,000 to $40,000. To me they seem very jealous, but the Kardashian posts get money because they run businesses and they recieve money for advertising. Their posts aren’t ‘stupid’ because they provide money.
   • • They say that Kim spends more money in one sitting than an average person spends in a week. This is in fact true! They like to use it against Kim, but Kim actually works hard for most of her money and she deserves to buy things she needs and wants.
   • • They say you should hate Kylie Jenner because she has seen too much money and she is very spoiled. I don’t know why they would want someone to hate Kylie just because she makes and spends hard earned money.
   • • They hate Kim because she earned money and fame from her leaked sex tape. Kim’s sex tape was leaked without her permission. The person who leaked it was making money so Kim decided to take custody of the profits–The leak was not planned.
   • • Many of the haters think the Kardashians have no talent. That they are just in the spotlight because they look hot. I think the TV show only shows so much, this is where most people see ‘no talent.’ For me, I think owning a successful multi-millionaire business is pure talent.
   • • Many hate them because they are spoiled. With ‘show biz’ comes money and advertising. I think whenever someone has excessive amounts of money they become spoiled, but I don’t think you should hate someone because of it. The Kardashians do lots of charity with their money and you don’t see them bragging about having too much money. The family knows they have a spoiled reality and they stress that they are thankful for their fans.
   • • People think they care too much about how they look. Like everyone else in society, people are compared to others. The family is always in the spotlight and constantly getting followed by paparazzi so no wonder they always want to look good.
   • • People think that the reality TV show shares too much of their personal life, which suggests things like being a whore and sexy. I think their TV show shares their life–I mean it is a reality TV show. It shares things that happen in their day to day life which may or may not be appealing to someone. I believe they aren’t suggesting to be a whore or sexy, this is just how some people perceive them.
   • People hate on the way the Kardashians speak, some say it sound dumb and childish. With the new day and age, many people speak as if they are texting. The Kardashians might sound dumb to people, but they are very intelligent business owners.
     

     So this leads up to- Have the Kardashians/Jenners made a positive impact on society?

     The Kardashian family have definitely left a good impact on society. Have they done some bad things in the past? Yes, but I think their goal is to change society for the better, to have more acceptance in the world. Most of the ‘haters’ just seem jealous of their success and claim they have no talents. The Kardashians may seem stupid, but if you think about it most of their money and talents come from their multi-millionaire businesses. I think they will continue to thrive and add more to their ‘success list’.
